Myspace.com - Why is it such a cesspool? "Whorespace"

You hear it on TV, and people talk about it in passing by. Occasionally, you hear a story about some 12 year old girl who was prayed upon by a online predator. Is your kid on Myspace? Chances are they are and you don’t even realize it. Myspace is the hip thing that is tearing through the schools. Everyone is online, and everyone has their blog or profile posted.

I know this from first hand experience. I have a younger cousin who has added me on Myspace. Yes, I use it and think it is great with keeping in contact with past friends from school. She’s 14, and has sluttier pictures posted than Brittany Spears! These are pictures she took herself including: shots down the shirt, wearing spandex, and her sucking on her own fingers. If a pedophile found the site, he would never leave. She does have her profile private, so only her 150 schoolmates can see what is going on.

My cousin isn’t the only one who is slutting up Myspace. There are thousands of profiles ranging from younger girls to women well into their 30’s with provocative pictures. Myspace is a way to show off what you have, as well as hook up with others. I see the girls in school now, and they are wearing low cut and tight clothes. When I was in school, I had a crush on a girl and thought she looked unbelievably hot in her purple Champion sweatshirt and Jeans. Now the girls look like prostitutes. Not to beat up only on the girls, a lot of the guys are posting pictures of themselves with their shirts off. Then these guys are shooting messages over to the girls saying how hot they are and trying to hook up. It is a vicious cycle, and an online cesspool. The bad part is, it isn’t going to change and will only get worse since our culture is over-sexed and becoming more open everyday. The best thing to do is know what your children are doing online, and don’t just put your trust in them. They may be good, but having their Myspace online can lead to less than desirable activity.

I’ve seen this often with younger girls and it’s very disturbing behavior to say the least. I wonder if they really know what it is they are trying to portray or is it just something they saw someone else do with the hope it gets them attention. I really don’t know and I hate to think they really want to grow up being known for this type of self-image. Other than the obvious fears and concerns of these girls being pursued by pedophiles, there’s also the possibility these provocative photo’s will ruin their lives and chances at gainful employment later on since these images stay on the web indefinately. Right or wrong, many employers search these sites for the purpose of checking on the ethics and moral values of potential employees. What may seem like fun at the time can actually be very harmful to their future.

Yes there are sluts on myspace. As i get older, the kids in high school look younger. I never looked that young lol. It is a repeating pattern. In ten years, they will say the same thing we are saying now. Face it. We are old!
